Scrapbooks Etc.

This first layout is one of my all time favorite Magic Kingdom layouts. I was so unbelievably happy when Erikia Ghumm of Scrapbooks Etc. asked to publish it in her travel article for their Aug/Sep 2009 issue. It's so freaking cool to see it in print! This was my very first time being published by Scrapbooks Etc. and I am so excited.

This layout I posted for my very good scrappy friend, Teri. This one was buried in a pile of Disney layouts that still have to be put in albums. When Teri reminded me of it recently, I dug it out. I love this polka dot diecut paper from Creative Imaginations. I layered a darker sheet of teal cardstock behind it for contrast. I wish I had bought more of it! Not sure why we look so orange in these pictures. It's a bad scan I guess. Seriously, we don't look like oompa loompas in real life!

This last layout I did recently for a challenge over at the Scrapbooks Etc. blog. It's my take of a sketch by Lisa Storms . I love the clean lines and whimsical accents across the top. Thanks Lisa for the inspiration!

On Hiatus

Wow! I can't believe it's been almost a whole month since I blogged. Sorry folks! Life just got so busy in July with birthdays and vacations. It seems that more than half of my family members, including me, have summer birthdays. It makes for lots of fun celebrations and a very busy time of the year.

I'm getting back into the swing of things and I've been scrapping again this week. Actually, I finally finished the Baltimore album I had posted a sneak peek of. The bad news is, I can't post it yet. The good (great!) news is that you will be able to see the entire mini album very soon over at my favorite online store, http://www.amillionlittlethings.typepad.com/. This is where I do most of my shopping and the owner Jill is as sweet as can be. I'll be sure to post when it's featured on the AMLT blog.

So here are two of my favorite projects right now. The Green Eggs layout was so much fun to create. I'm loving the Cosmo Cricket's spinner cards but sometimes using them is difficult because they are so darn big! I tucked half of it behind my focal point photo and voila, it's the perfect size.

This second layout, "Mr. Tom Turkey", features an older October Afternoon line that I love. Actually, I love pretty much anything OA puts out. The vintage colors and patterns are so easy to work with. My son actually helped me season the bird this year and I want to remember what a good little helper he was at just 3 year old. The funniest part was when he waved goodbye to Tom and closed the oven door with a slam.

I'll be back tomorrow with a few more projects!

A Pirate's Bath for Me!

I'm still hard at work finishing up the Baltimore album but yesterday I decided to take a little break and start a new project. I love how these pictures of my son in the bathtub turned out. I had to stand on the edge of the tub to take the shot from above. Luckily, I didn't slip and kill myself (or the boy).

I knew that I wanted to tell the story about how he loves taking a bath and runs upstairs when my husband says "bath time". Nico's favorite part is playing with this huge assortment of pirate bath toys that I picked up at Target last year.

I used a really bold color palette with a touch of black to frame it all out. I am loving all shades of aqua lately and have been using it like mad. I think that my favorite part of the layout is the pirate hat emblem that I made using Maya Road chipboard circles (painted black) and these silver stick-on metal studs from Me & My Big Ideas. They are flat and sticky on the back making them a snap to put on. I can think of a thousand uses for these.

So there it is - Nico's bath story, metal studs, bold colors, and no one got hurt! (this time).

A Sneak Peek

I've abandoned my blog for far too long! I do have a good excuse though - I have been scrapping like mad lately. Between all of the great new products that have been released lately and the fact that it has been raining for what seems like forever, I've been creating lots of new projects.
Here's a sneak peek of what I'm currently working on. This is the cover of my Baltimore road trip mini album. I am totally in love with this travel line by Little Yellow Bicycle and I plan on using it for the entire book. The bold colors and prints are just my style! Here I used a ton of the word strip stickers to cover the plain chipboard album. A strip of patterned paper and some great lime green Thickers (that I found at Memory Lane pa) match perfectly. I'll be working on this all week, so hopefully I'll have the completed album to post soon!

My Favorite

This is one of my all-time favorite layouts. I think it's the picture of my son & DH - miraculous really that they are both posing AND smiling. Or maybe it's the story - it's really how I feel. No, wait, I think it's the aqua and green color scheme which I seem to do alot.

Whatever it is, I love this one. It's a combination of a whole lot of manufacturers - Scenic Route, Making Memories, October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin - that somehow came together pretty nicely. I love that my son's birthday is represented in the bingo card - 8/4/05 and I highlighted it with an aqua Dauber Duo. I am a lucky girl indeed to have these two in my life!

A great big thank you to Scrapbook Trends magazine for publishing this layout in their June 2009 issue!

Never Say Never

So here I am, writing a post on the blog that I swore I would never start. But then a funny thing happened. I started reading a bunch of blogs and I really liked it. I love to start my mornings with a large iced coffee and my beloved blogs.

Every single day I'm inspired by Kelly's, Candice's and Cindy's work (just to name a few). It's a great way to start the day. I love to follow a scrapper's progression through the hobby. It's amazing how much their work evolves over time.

So that got me thinking, and I realized that I would really like to keep a diary of my work too. A place where I can see in black and white where I've been and how my pages (and my boy) have changed over the years. So here I am and that's my story. Let the journey begin!

And um yeah, just so you know from the get go - there'll be alot of Disney pages, alot lot - because I'm one of those Disney freaks that stalks disboards.com and visits every year. Every. Single. Freakin. Year.
