Disney Cruise Video

Frankenstorm was ugly. We had some damage, lost our shed. But we are doing just fine. No electricity in our town, so we're crashing at my Dad's tonight. So while I have some power, let me share a video that went up yesterday at Two Peas.
I love these word bubbles from Studio Calico. They reminded me so much of the things that Nico said on our recent cruise. Every single thing that we asked him, he would say "that was awesome" - ice cream bar (awesome), water slides (awesome), dinner show (awesome. You get the idea. So when I saw the word bubbles I knew I had to make this page.

To see how it came together, you can see the video here:

2Peas Blog Hop

It's the 22nd! And that means a hop of Garden Girls with news, sneak peeks and giveaways from our favorite spot on the web twopeasinabucket.com
A camping layout I've been working on. Should be up soon in the Garden.
There's so much inspiration in the Gallery, that it's hard to narrow it down - so I chose two favorites.
This first one is by pea MelindaSpinks. I love the graphic and clean look of this layout. It's has plenty of details (hello confetti!) and I love how she used the Jillibean epoxy buttons.
This beautiful layout is by one of my all-time favorite scrappers and Peas, KellyGoree. She has such an eye for color and design. This layout doesn't scream "boy", yet it perfectly compliments the photo and the story. I love that!
The top 5 collections that are my desk right now:
The Good Life by Fancy Pants
Artisan Words by Pink Paislee. Perfect for titles.
Seen & Noted by Pebbles

These were too pretty to pass up.  Lost & Found Ruby by MME.

And now for a fun prize. How about a $10 gift certificate to twopeasinabucket.com? Just leave a comment and tell me what scrappy project you're working on right now and you're entered. Don't forget to leave your PeaName too!  I'll announce the winner on Monday, 10/29/12.

And now hop on over to 2Peas blog for more inspiration + links.

Also hopping are Garden Girls:

Echo Park Cards: Grandma's Kitchen

Every once in a while I like to take a break from layouts and make a few cards. Sometimes they're just a quick way to get myself back into the creating groove.

I made both of these cards using Echo Park's Mini Collection Grandma's Kitchen.
You can find a PDF and full instructions on the Echo Park Paper site.
Pretty little details like sewing, denim tags and twine add layers of dimension to a card. Adding some pop dots to the stickers (although it's hard to see in the photograph) makes the card really stand out!

Weekend Snaps

I grew up camping and I loved it so much. There was nothing better than hitching up the RV and taking off to explore another part of region and enjoy the outdoors. Mind you, we had a microwave, bathroom and A/C so it certainly wasn't roughing it. The best part though - we camped with family. My uncle had an RV and you could usually find a bunch of my cousins around a campfire every night. Some of the funniest family stories were made and told on those trips.

So off we went to Jellystone with Nico and his two cousins in tow.
We rented an RV instead of a cabin so that the kids could have the full experience. Which was great, but it sure was cozy.
I really like the Yogi Bear theming of the Jellystone parks. It's a little cheesy, but the kids loved meeting the characters. They don't remember the cartoon, but they've all seen the movie a few times.
A bit of decorating wit that that the boys found funny (we did too). Of course they tried to pull them off and add their own shoes.
We spent some time down by the lake fishing.
And this boy was very lucky + proud.
This is the first fish he's ever caught.  And the only big catch of the trip.
What's a camping trip without some afternoon ceramics. This was one of my favorite things about camping as a kid.
They spent a lot of time at the playground - talking and pretending.
We let them dictate the schedule...we played games, skipped rocks and fed some ducks.
Being the Mom on this trip was so different. The last time I went camping I was in my late teens. I never realized the amount of work planning and packing the "Moms" did on our trips. I have to remember to thank them.
When I planned the trip, I remember thinking it would be so great for them to learn how to make S'mores, sit around a campfire and share stories.
And these pictures really seem that way, don't they?
But, mostly they whipped burnt marshmallows at each other and chased one another around the trailer. Ha! Maybe in a couple more years.
So that's it. Our great big camping adventure. It's was fun + definitely on the books again for next year.

Echo Park Everyday Eclectic

Pretty Everyday Eclectic. This was my favorite Echo Park release this summer. It's almost like they took the boardwalk scene photos at some of my favorite beach locations on the East Coast. Love the muted colors of the realistic photos in contrast with the bold patterns.

These photos of Nico on the rides seemed like a perfect fit. The gist of the page is about how I loved to watch him go on rides at this age. I want to remember a time when such simple, no big-thrill ride could make him laugh and smile so big. The photo I wish I had is one of my husband and I smiling right back at him.
I started the page with the wood patterned paper and layered strips of color, photorealistic patterned paper and card stock to create a linear and bold page.
I cut the two polaroid frames with my Silhouette and then added images that were included in the collection. They look like photos I took, but they're not. Thank you Everyday Eclectic for that part!
And finally the line I was waiting for! SN@P by Simple Stories. So beautiful that it may actually convince me to do a Project Life-type of project.
SNAP Fundamental Stickers
Love the bold colors and icons. Especially the camera!
SNAP Patterned Paper Collection
Crisp white + color = LOVE
3x4 SNAP Cards
Project Life cards or nice title blocks for scrapbook layouts.
SNAP Icon Sticker Pack
A collection of pretty stickers in a pack. There's that camera again.
SNAP Label Stickers
And for the office supply junkie in me...these are a must.

I'm really thinking about using this system to store all of the Disney Cruise photos in. Just to print all of those pictures out, journal the memories and have it ready to flip through would be awesome. Let me think this through a bit and I'll be back with a video of my process.

Scrapbook & Cards Today + Winner

The brand new Fall issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today is out! I love this magazine. The articles + the gallery showcase so many different styles and I love that. Plus it's free! You can either download it and look at it later or browse through it right on their website. Check out the Fall issue here.
There's a really great article about adding special details to your layouts. I was asked to create a layout showing a "before the details" and an "after the details layout". Adding the icing to a layout is my favorite part of scrapbooking, so this was a dream assignment. Check it out on page 23 of the Fall issue.

The winner of the $15 gift certificate to twopeasinabucket.com is...

Thanks so much for blog hopping with the Garden Girls! JillC, I will Peamail you with the GC details.

Also a blast from the past over at Two Peas. I am so happy to see kiMemories back, they were one of my favorite companies way back.  Take a peek at their new line Flashback. These are some of the pieces that picked...
Blocks of Time
Stitched Borders & Stamps
(that I actually bought! I have a few ideas on how I want to use them so I thought I'd give stamping another whirl - we'll see what happens.)
Timeline Stripe Paper
Love these funky little cameras on a grid background.
Bright, sunny yellow washi tape.
Die cut film strip paper. Oh the possibilities with this one!
Banner Stickers. I love that the white part is not actually white, it's the negative! I can back these with any color/pattern paper for a custom look. Can't wait to use these.

So kiMemories is back and I'm one happy, colorful scrapper!
